I spent about 8 of my 12 (Jun 68 - Jun 69) months in Vietnam at Phan Rang. Spent the other 4 on a mountain top outside of Dalat (including Tet 69)playing real army with 12+ hour days and 3 hours on guard duty every night. The 8 months at Phan Rang were really good duty for a draftee. Those AF guys knew how to live - the base had better facilities than any of the stateside forts I was assigned to prior being sent to Vietnam. I especially remember trips to the beach & "The Strip". I hung out with the Communications guys (Mike Reuss from NYC and Dave Klegg, SGT Lopez and Sgt Lance West - our Commo chief was LT. Storz - a great guy. Our CSM was Juan Maldonado who I though was a real "a**hole". If anybody knows of any bargain trips available to Vietnam for vets, please let me know. I mostly enjoyed my RVN experience, and would like to see it all again.
