Closing Phan Rang

From Ronald Hawks, on Mon, 22 Dec 1997 18:20:54 GMT (in response to: We shut the doors...)

I was also at Phan Rang when they closed up shop. I was there until Feb. 1972. I was with the 310th TAS flying C-123s. I was getting short, so I was left behind when the squadron left for Saigon. We got to load up furniture and close down barracks. I also saw the arrival of the Vietnamese Air Force. They arrived in C-119s loaded with Honda Motorbikes. They even ate in our Chow Hall. The base was getting pretty barren. We use to joke it was like being "the last living cells in a dead body". It's good to see pictures of the old place. I hope people that have gone back for a visit will share some of their up to date pictures.
