'Screaming Eagles ' and Fr. Pat McCormick

I have recently seen a photograph of Fr. Pat McCormick of the Australian Air Force being presented with a Certificate of Merit by members of the First Brigade, 101st Airbourne Division [Screaming Eagles] at Phan Rang on 7 April 1968. The Certificate was signed by Col. John W. Collins III. About five handsome young men were lined up for the presentation by a solid sort of bloke part of whose name on his jacket started with HEMK-- or so it appeared. Another name visible in the photo was TORER. Does anyone remember the circumstances of the award ?
