Hi:
I was stationed in Phan Rang Advisory Team # 39 from 1963 - 1964. At the time I was there we only saw one aircraft per week at the airfield. This was a C-130 which brought in our weekly rations and mail.
During this period there were only eight americans assigned to the entire area. We were living in a small compound on the main road leading from the airfield into the town (at that time) of Phan Rang. our compound was approximately one mile outside of town.
I was the first "Admin Specialist" to have served in the team, at that time I was a SP5. Retired from the military in 1980.
Hard to picture the small airfield as a full pledged military installation. Somewhere packed away I have pictures of what the air-strip used to look like.
