Fuel Depot Attack 710523
It was May 23,1971 we came under attack, (latter found out It was the Fuel Dump) and we went scrambling our C130BII airplanes, when a rookie pilot refused to take my plane off because of a inoperative Radio and Hot Mike. I was so made do to the fact I was on my feet for the last 36 hours flying several missions back to back, that was the straw that broke my back. I started yelling at him besides calling him every name in the book and future books to be written. I through his bags off the airplane and chased him out the crew door, I attempted to punch him in the face, but missed thanks to his co-pilot buddy who pushed him out of the way at the right time. That chicken jumped on another aircraft along with his entire flight crew and left my butt behind. Because the aircraft was highly classified I had to stay with it. In less than 10 minutes I was approached by a 1st Lt., was given a weapon and teamed up with Air Policeman and was told to stand by our detachment ops shack and if it looked like the VC was getting to close we were supposed to blow up the building not to allow classified information to fall in the hands of the VC. (Yea right!) After about four hours things quieted down and we were relieved and I went to change my draws.
