The Vietnam war was an astounding thing that affected the entire Nation, and set the tone for an era. It created controuversery and togetherness, but at the same time it brought out the dark side of people. The protestors where in fact working toward a rightous cause, but in away they were preaching something that they didn't follow. They spoke out agianst war, and transferred this belief into hate agianst returning soldiers. An example of this positive move- ment turning bad is Jane Fonda. She traveled over to the "enemy" capital and took part in spreading propaganda. In her mind she probably thought that she was supporting peace, but in actuallity she was participating in an hateful and immoral practice. On the other side of the spetrum though, Soldiers that were sent to vietnam also caused pain and suffering. For example the My Lai Massacre.
My point is that the Vietnam War brought out the darkside of many. perhaps we should stop the hatred and try to mend the wounds inflicted by this bloody violent period of our past.
