Protest

Speak for Yourself

From Joe N., on Fri, 10 Dec 1999 14:09:09 GMT (in response to: Teen-age rebellion, without understanding the damage!)

You never really thought about or concerned yourself with the young US troops in Viet Nam? I can assure you that, had you been male, thus eligible for the draft, you would have thought about the war, and those troops.

It's easy to be irresponsible about it when one isn't faced by such a risk. Having been I-A I know the weight of being uncertain to unable to plan for a future--unlike the inelligible women of the day.

No society on the planet has ever hesitated to sacrifice the lives of its males in order to protect its women and children. And now we have "feminists" jabbering about _women_ being "second class citizens". Try being eligible for the draft for a taste of _actual_ second-class citizenship.

But no: it's easy to send people to war so long as one doesn't have to go oneself.
