Jane Fonda apology

From Barbara Hirsch, on Sat, 24 Jun 2000 14:13:40 GMT (in response to: when did she apologize)

This story appeared in the June 21, 2000 edition of the Colorado Gazette.

Fonda sorry for photo With North Vietnamese

Jane Fonda says she feels awful about poising for the famous photo with North Vietnamese soldiers in 1972 that sealed her reputation as "Hanoi Jane."

"I will go to my grave regretting the photograph of me in an anti-aircraft carrier, which looks like I was trying to shoot at American planes," Fonda said.

"It hurt so many soldiers. It galvanized such hostility. It was the most horrible thing I could possibly have done. It was just thoughtless." Fonda, 62, said.

I don't live in Colorado, but one of the Vietnam POWs who does, reprinted the article on the NamPows list. When checking with the Gazette for the source, they told him that the article came from the June/July issue of the magizine "O" for Oprah. The Philadelphia Enquirer reported it, as did AP.
