Protest

The blood of veterans earned hippies the right to protest!

From Alabama Man, on Tue, 18 Sep 2001 05:23:30 GMT (in response to: I hate all you hippie tree huggers.)

In the course of American history, the only truth is strength of arms. Guns have made slaves, and arms have heralded a new age of freedom. Protestors have the right to voice an opinion because others answered the call of honor and country. They served in circumstances in which duty was hard to define, but all bled freedom into our flag. It is befitting to loathe the destruction of human life. Life is already hard enough. However, when we see our beloved freedoms jeopordized, we must assert our will to be free and understand that losses are inevitable. Churchil said it best, "...nothing to offer, except for blood, toil, sweat, and tears." and war is indeed difficult, but we must answer the call to defend our precious institution like the ancient Athenians did against an altogether too familiar enemy. 1300 years of history dictate the Middle Eastern policy of racism, institutionalized sexism, and terrorism. It is time we take stock of the sum total of terrorist attacks. Let us recognize this deliberate campaign against our people. To embrace freedom is to understand that we must bleed for our ideology.
