From FXSTC Vet, on Thu, 29 Jun 2000 14:36:37 GMT (in response to: I'd like to have a nickel for every vet who said we spit on them)
Look, sister...at 14 in '68 you had damn little knowledge of much of anything (bet you couldn't find RVN on a map and I'll bet that even today, you can't name the seas, countries or much of any other geographic info about the country). So YOU think you can speak for a vet? No chance!
I was wounded in '65 and out of the service before you could vote! OK...protest was fine, but the sad part is that all those bastards who (as you say) wanted to "bring the boys home" finally got them home...then what? I'll tell ya what: Mental health pros all affirm that 30% of the combat vets suffer form one degree or another from PTSD. What is OUR gov't now doing about it? Taking 5 years to get a claim filed and treatment started...Ohnyeah...we care?
Ya wanna protest some more...tell your congress that saving the fucking whales is a fine idea...but check the suicide rate among combat vets (because of the fucking stonewalling from VA and their eventual demise!)
Sorry...vets were "spit on"...if not de facto, certainly by neglect..and it still goes on (Agent Orange is one thing the govt fails to address to this day!)
