How could I be so blind?

From Danny Vuic, on Sun, 05 Dec 1999 21:04:42 GMT (in response to: Untitled)

I concede to the weight of your well-thought-out argument, Einstein...she's just a bitch and I have to live with it. But here's a hypothetical for you: If you live in America, and some people from Vietnam come to your house and start shooting at you, don't you have the right to defend yourself? If these Vietnamese intruders start to claim that they don't like the fact that while in the process of defending yourself and your property you have taken a few of them out, wouldn't you tell them that if they don't like it they can always pack it in and go home? I mean, they really can't claim that your not doing anything but defending yourself from an attack. Does this make the slightest bit of sense to you?

Why then, aren't the Vietnamese, who were defending themselves from an invading army, namely the USA, given the same rights you would expect if the situation were reversed? Yeah, Einstein, they killed some of our guys defending themselves from our attack--and if our elected officials weren't so blind to the fact that the Vietnamese people had a proud history of never giving in to invading armies--no matter how overwhelming the power of the invaders--they would have "packed it in" and brought our boys home long before they wasted so many American and Asian lives.

That's something that that "bitch", Jane Fonda, realized back in the 70's--but seems lost on you.
