It's impossible to prove a negative, Jimmy

First of all, what's with all the name calling ("coward"?, "...bleeding hea[r]t liberal with no sense of decency..."?)? I shouldn't even dignify your name calling by being defensive--I have nothing to prove to you--but I will tell you this: My sense of decency is the very thing that prompted me to warn the impressionable Trisha not to take at face-value the allegations being leveled against Ms. Fonda by nameless, cowardly people. Step forward, be counted, let us know who you are and provide the proof to back up the allegations.

Which brings me to my second point: It is not incumbent upon me (or Jane Fonda for that matter) to prove what she DIDN'T do in Vietnam--even if it were possible (it is, by the way, impossible to prove a negative). It is, however, incumbent upon those alleging her so-called treasonous actions to PROVE them--that's how the system works. Just because someone says she did something does not make it fact. How do you know what she did? Where is your proof? I have read many unsubstantiated allegations about her actions, but I have never seen one scintilla of proof to back up the most sensational ones. If she were guilty of most of the shit she is said to have done while she was in Vietnam, she would have been convicted of treason long ago. What the hell is everyone waiting for? Provide your evidence so we can put her on trial. If you don't have any evidence or you are merely regurgitating stories you have heard without taking the time to check the facts of the stories or the veracity of those who are perpetuating them, you're gonna have a pretty hard time convincing people like me that she did anything worse than what I have read about her in the mainstream press.

This is not to say that she didn't make mistakes and say some pretty thoughtless things (all documented and conceded to by her, by the way), but what I have read in the mainstream press pales in comparrison to most of the crap I have read about her floating out there in cyberland. And, Jimmy, until someone can prove to me that she did the things alleged in the threads that precede our little tussle here, the sensational allegations leveled against her therein will remain just that: CRAP. All the name-calling in the world (by the way, an ad-hominen attack is an invalid form of argument) won't change the facts or put the burden of proof anywhere other than where it belongs--squarely on the shoulders of those making the allegations!
