Protest

Equal Rights doesn't mean Special Rights.

From Josh, on Sat, 05 Aug 2000 06:48:08 GMT (in response to: Women and War)

I completely agree. We are now living in a society in which men and women are afforded equal rights. It is in fact, illegal for an employer to discriminate against an employee/job candidate based on sex. Women and men can vote. Both sexes can fully and equally partake in all facets of our society.

There is one arena in which men and women are not equal. That is war. At the age of 18, all men in the United States must sign up for 'Selective Services'. This government organization gives you a number, which you are to carry with you until the age of 25. If the draft is reinstated, and they call your card number, you must go to war. If you don't go, you'll be placed in prison and fined. You can say that women could fight just as well as men. The fact is, women can't be drafted and don't have to die fighting someone elses war.

Equal Rights are in fact Special Rights today in America.
