Protest

"Freedom"

From Joe N., on Fri, 10 Dec 1999 08:57:00 GMT (in response to: Untitled)

If the majority in Viet Nam wanted "freedom" (what does that term mean? money and big car? freedom to be Buddhist, and to protest S. Viet Nam gov't policies without being murdered by Diem?), they would have had it. That the majority did not want a "freedom" as the US defined and imposed it ("freedom" begins to mean different things for different people, eh? despite its rhetoric, the US cannot claim a monopoly on "freedom"--ever hear of slavery?) is self-evident from the outcome of the effort.
