Can't win a war when the natives don't want to

From Julie, on Wed, 19 Jul 2000 23:24:26 GMT (in response to: Three things that start with C)

To quote Neil Sheehan, "When you double the fire power, you square the political outcome." We couldn't win Nam because we were fighting under false pretenses perpetuated by McNamara, Westmoreland and other liars who enjoyed playing war without regard as to what they wanted. Ho Chi Minh actually thought Americans believed in the Declaration of Independence when the French were kicked out. Boy, was he surprised. We were not fighting this war to protect America. It took more courage to resist the draft than it took to follow corrupt leaders blindly.
