Stop talking about ideologies. The Vietnam War simply is a lesson that such a power as the U.S. can't really do anything

What do they usually say about the results of a fight? The winner boasts his victory while the loser laments his loss.

I don't care much about the ideological aspect of the war. You know what both the U.S. or the Communists simply wouldn't do anything good to the people of Vietnam. Do you think that if the South Vietnamese goverment had survived, South Vietnam would've been better. I doubt it. The South Vietnamese government compared to that of the North was hundreds of times more corrupt. Look at their suppression of religions and political movements. Did the South Vietnam had a good economy. American aid was only focused on military operations.

So, America's strategy was to use a bad guy to defeat a bad guy. So if the bad guy it supported had won, in Vietnam there would still be a corrupt government. Those Vietnamese who fought during the Vietnam War, many of whom I have talked in the States, simply don't understand anything. They supported the 3-stick flag - the symbol of a corrupt government, and condemned the current Vietnamese government. I don't think the current Vietnamese government is perfect, but it sure is better than the government the U.S. supported so enthusiastically. Why, sometimes I ask, didn't the U.S. support North Vietnam? Ho Chi Minh welcomed U.S. aid during the early stage of the French war. It might have not turned communist. Only one reason I could think of is that the South Vietnamese government was much easier to manage.

So stop talking about ideologies. They are fake. I still feel so proud of the Vietnamese people's victory against such a strong military power.
