Jane Fonda is the poster child for the hypocrisy of the so called peace movement. She was part of the group that just wanted to trash the United States. In any other previous war, she would have been labeled correctly as a traitor and sentenced to jail. It is interesting that she and the majority of the peace movement never protested the genocide that occurred in Cambodia following the Communist takeover. To my knowledge, only Joan Baez showed that she was genuinely interested in peace as she tried to call attention to what was happening there. However, by this time the draft had ended and the sanctimonous peaceniks no longer needed to protest in order to protect their own hides.
Today there appears to be a movement afoot by the news media to revise what happened during the 60's and 70's. I have read several articles where the press stated that spitting and cursing returning Vietnam veterans was a rare occurrence. I know too many veterans that this happened to for it to be called 'rare'. It is important that we veterans address the revisionists with the truth whenever we encounter their falsehoods. Don't let their lies sanitize the real actions of the so called peace demonstrators. Future generations need to be aware of the lack of support Vietnam veterans had from certain segments of our society.
