understanding is the key to win the only real war- no war at all

From Robert Frailing, on Thu, 07 Nov 1996 02:14:12 GMT (in response to: There's no need...)

The key to everything in the world and all of it's problems is understanding. when you take the time to learn and understand a oerson, or a culture in this case, you also understand thier ways and actions, and the causes for such. when all you do is analyze someone using only your own morals and beliefs, you have failed to recognize the cause of the action, which is their morals and beliefs. If you take the time to learn about these things, you pervent a war, either between countries or conciences, you have prevented a war. For example, between a husband and a wife, when they have a domestic dispute, instead of fighting it out like immature kids, they talk it out and analyze the situation through not only thier own morals, but through thier spouses as well. understanding and love go hand in hand. they are like salt and pepper, you simply cannot have one without the other, and you will never see one without the other. if our leaders all took the time to learn about the vietnamese people and thier culture and thier ways, we would not have ever had a war with them, I guarantee it, things simply would not have escalated to the point of an international war. it is up to us, as cheesy as this may sound, to teach others this and show them that when you take the time to learn about someone else and thier ways, you have created a bridge of communication that will never be burned, it cannot be burned because when they do something, you will understand it, whether you chose to retalliate against it or not, you will understand it, and your chances of making such an irrational attack become far less, you will not be willing to risk whatever is at stake because you know there is a much better easier way to solve the problem and accomplish the mission. when you fail to understand someone, you have created an automatic breach in communication, thus a breach in understanding as well, and run a much higher risk of doing the irrational thing as opposed to the easier real solution to the problem. the only thing war creates is hate, and there is plenty enough of that in this world to go around right now, and it is so incredibly easy to fix- just think about an action before acting it out. I don't know how many times I have heard my mother and father tell me that. It strikes quite true in many aspects, especially when applied to a much broader sense such as a war between nations. there never was a war and there never will be a war that could not nor cannot be solved by even a little understanding, and this is the crucial element and the most powerful weapon one can have. it is so easy to use, and all it takes to aquire is a little time to learn something. when you ask why? that is exactly correct because there is no real reason or excuse for such an action as this war let alone any other, so "why" will be asked for centuries to come because there will never be an answer, all we can do is learn from it and remember to use a little understanding before going on the battle field, you'll save a lot of lives and certainly your own. i ask nothing other than this, that you think real hard fore just a moment....why? and then e-mail me back and tell me what you think- love and understanding are the key- not ranting and raving. i have one final quote for this page, that is " he who fails to learn history is damned to repeat it" -Robert Frailing
