question about Montagnard braceletts

I have a relative who had lived with the Montagnards during the Vietnam War. He has worn a bracelett ever since. This one is different than the other Montagnard braceletts I saw in the photos on line. Any information would be appreciated.This bracelett is brass , made from what appears to be 1/4-3/8" diameter round rod , it is "C" shaped and had to be bent around his wrist , there is no carving or it has been worn off.This bracelett does not look like it could be removed without cutting it off.Thank you.
