What has become of our Kit Carson Heros?

From John Quintrell, on Tue, 11 Mar 2003 05:26:03 GMT (in response to: Kit Carson Scouts)

I served in the 25th Inf Div 2/27 wolfhounds C co 2nd platoon from Aug 1968 to Aug 1969. We had a Kit Carson Scout named Trung Van Than (we called him "Pete"). Ive thought about him for 34 yrs and wondered what ever happened to him He singlehandedly saved the remaining 8 men in my platoon after we had been overrun by NVA on the Cambodian Border. He took off his fatigues and jumped out in front of our position and after securing an AK-47 off a dead NVA he started calling to the NVA in vietnamese and as they approached he cut them down. He was responsible for at least 20 kills that night. Is there any way a person could find out if a kit carson scout survived? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, John "Big John" Quintrell
