Montagnards

I am Montagnard-American

From Timothy Lee, on Thu, 07 Jan 1999 05:57:39 GMT

I am 18 years old and I am am a Montagnard living in Southern California. The truth is, Montagnard in our language is stated as 'Hmong.' The word Montagnard comes from the French word for Hmong. Most Anthropology professors will use Hmong nowadays to describe our people and our culture.

My father fought in the secret wars for years alongside our American comrades. It was in 1976 that my father came to America and my mother gave birth to my older brother. I was born in 1980 and have been raised as an American for 18 solid years.

I speak the Hmong language but I am really an English native speaker. I love hamburgers and rock and roll. I'm an actor, musician, writer and college student. I'm more American than anything. And thank God and America that I have the same rights as any other American.
