Montagnards

Larry O'Neil

From Bucky Burruss, on Sun, 09 Feb 2003 12:43:11 GMT (in response to: Friends of capt. Lawrence O'Neil)

Hi, Julie. Larry was my company commander in basic training at Ft. Gordon, Georgia, and my first A team leader in the Mike Force in Vietnam. I was there when he got shot, and when he left the hospital to be evacuated from Vietnam, I helped loaded him into the ambulance to go to the airplane. Little Larry was later a medic in my Special Forces company at Ft. Bragg. Larry and Krista came to visit my wife and me in California, and he spent the 2d or 3d of July 1990 with me here in Virginia, before going to the SF convention in Washington the day he died. He was a great man, and I loved him like a big brother. I've probably seen your picture a dozen times - the one of you, your nine sisters, and two brothers in the Boston Easter parade, wearing the clothes your mother made each of you. Bucky Burruss
