The engineers created a great road. For many months I used the old one, and their new one, on the way to the 'Yards.
The tracked vehicles were banned from using the newly paved road, and there were dirt roads for them on either side of the pavement.
When the 4th Div. moved to An Khe, the ARVNs started driving their tracks on the pavement. Chewed it up very quickly.
I spent a lot of time with the 'Yards. It was a incredible experience for a 19-year-old from the suburbs. The 'Yards have had a bigger impact on me over the years than all the other crap that went on over there.
I cherish the time I spent with the 'Yards.
