Montagnards

Sak from Dak Wak

From Sak, on Tue, 14 Dec 1999 23:05:02 GMT (in response to: Respect, honor and rewards to all of the men, women and children who helped us during this war.)

I was about 4 years old when my dad died. A NVC raid hit my village and killed my father and his partner on duty that night. He served with Special Operations Group in and around Dak Wak (Kontum area) and made me glad to see American soldiers instead of Vietnamese soldiers. Because of the Americans I was able to escape Vietnam and have a second chance on life. I've since become a US Citizen and am trying to live my life so that my father and those that he served would be proud of me. As a Montagnard "we could count on those Americans that were up to their elbow in shit with us" but could not trust a Vietnamese as far as we could throw them. I have a scar down my back to prove it.

Thanks to all the Americans that helped us during and after the War. We appreciate your concerns, your friendship. May God bless your lives and grant you peace.
