My husband and I have adopted 2 girls from an orphanage in Kontum Vietnam. Len born 1-95 and Dyal born 6-85. This April Len will have been with us for 3 years and Dyal for 1 year. They are wonderful children with an extremely kind nature.
Adopting them was not an easy or cheap task. It is very hard to adopt in Kontum or Pleiku (Dyal is from Pleiku) as the government officials do not readily give their permission for Americans to adopt there. It took us 3 years to finally get Dyal here. There were definitely worth the effort but there was extreme stress involved. We traveled to Kontum 3 times in the past 3 years, once you get to know the Montagnard people you cannot get them out of your heart.
Our first adoption was done through an agency but they no longer work in the highlands because we ran into so many problems. We had to go back for Dyal by ourselves but that is a very long story!
