Military

To Riot/Lincoln

From Yank, on Sat, 18 May 2002 05:19:09 GMT (in response to: good on yer..back at ya)

I would disagree with anyone's strategy - American, Australian or whatever. It was a dirty war for both of our countries however don't be disillusioned about your freedom. It was someone else's country that was far from both of us. It was your Governments total fear of Communism that drove your lads there, our Government sent ours as fodder and to bond "economically" with the USA. Both our countries should never have become involved. The recent September 11th happenings are another story. They happened on your soil and that does threaten your freedom and ours. We responded with military aid the moment it happened. Believe it or not, this shocked Australians deeply as we like Americans very much. This is justifiable aide - not Vietnam. Lincoln

Lincoln:

In response...I was being somewhat facetious.

1. "Dirty" war....show me a "clean" war...unless you refer to the Desert Storm. That was about the "cleanest" war---swift...very much fought by the military. The President stated a Clear, Concise objective and got out of the way!

2. The LAST thing I would ever be is "disillusioned" about my FREEDOM. My Tribute is to those that are willing to put their butts on the line not specifically for me but ultimately I enjoy the life due to the quality of individual willing to do that. Vietnam--right or wrong--I honor and appreciate their sacrifice as Heroes. Some Vets would say that we won the war...regardless I have always contended that there were other powers at work...besides our military. No country can honestly "lose" if they possess the capability to remove the opposing force/country---off the face of the earth. That said, it is apparent our military was not fighting in Vietnam...they were the ones dying but not strategizing the war.

I would not dishonor those that served by saying that their sacrifices were in any way stupid. Only thank them for their willingness.

Thanks to Clinton...thousands are dead. We have cameras on every street corner, friends have to take off their SHOES to get onto an airplane. Laws slowly strangle as the noose tightens...on our blood-red won Freedoms.

You believe our past Fear of Communism was paranoia? You are familiar w/ the Communist Manifesto?
