The above response are correct, but we did not lose the war. That is hype from ashamed congressmen & the media (who were against the war). We, as a combat force, were out of RVN for a couple of years prior to the north over-running it. We left the ARVNs to defend their country, which they attempted to do, but without the promised ammo and parts for US made equipment & weapons. When the nothern forces came south the ARVNs had poor equipment & low ammo. We stood by & watched. We (the US military) did not lose the war like Hitler lost WWII, BUT the US as a country did lose it for the ARVNs, many of whom died defending it. Congress, the media & Jane Fonda should all hang their heads low, VERY low. I haven't forgotten how it ended, but many in this country have re-written history to fit their needs. I would hope that all RVN Vets would remember this, THEY didn't lose that country. Period. The only thing vets lost in RVN was faith in the political system. JimL, RVN 1971, US Army.
