I wish I knew

From missy, on Fri, 10 Dec 1999 20:09:22 GMT (in response to: I wish you had your Home in Nam)

My father was in Vietnam from 69/70. I guess I was lucky because I wasn't born yet. It wasn't ubtil a year ago that I found out my father had almost died in the war. If it hadn't been for his radioman, who died saving my father's life, I wouldn't be alive. That's a scary thought for a thirteen year to have. I don't know if my father has nightmares or flashbacks, but I do know that it hurts him very much to talk about the war. He was a captain and lost about twenty of his men from what I understand. I won't pretend to know how you feel, but I wish I did. Then I would be able to understand my father a little bit better. My biggest fear is that something like thid might happen again. Then, I might not be so lucky I will loose someone I love.
