i totally understand how u feel about not ever seeing ur relatives because a lot of my family has died during the vietnam war and to this day i still have relatives there that i will never see. i do have to say that the general is trying to overthrow the laotion nation and win back some land to call our own. it is going on as we speak. u see my father was a luitenant in the vietnam war and is now actively working with the lao veterans of america founded in fresno california to help veterans with citizenship and get benefits from the us government by proposing bills to the legislature. lao veterans is constantly working on trying to negotiate and buy back land in laos so one day our grandchildren can say this is hmongland where my parents and grandparents came from. my father and his fellow friends believe strongly that one day we will get land. there are ways u can get to see ur grandparents and i've seen it done. buy them a plane ticket to come see ur family. last i checked a ticket to thailand was only 600. of course u have to get them visas etc. if money is an issue, post ur story on the internet asking for donations, there are nice people out there. u may feel as if this letter is nonsense but even though i was born here in the states i do believe the hmong people has its purpose and that one day we will survive the everlasting struggle to become a nation of our own.
