It's up to us now!

From Mel Best, on Tue, 31 Jul 2001 11:14:08 GMT (in response to: War affects everyone)

I am only 17 years old, therefore my knowledge of war, or even the world is not great, but even in my short lifetime i have been affected by the wars that were fought before my parents were born, in one way or another. To me the notion of war gives me goose bumps, and the thought that i have not now, nor ever am likely to love in a world where it is socially un-acceptable to declare war is somewhat dis-hartening. But what is more disturbing is the reasons that these wars start, some simply are declared to ensure politicians stay in power, because to change the way things are run in certain countries to minimise the chance of was would forfit the power and credibility that some people hold over a society. I believe that it is time for all generations and nations to join forces, not only to help themselves but to help people we have never met before, because war and its rippling affects are spreading like an infection, and need to be stopped before the magnitude of these affects are un bearable.
