I remember a quote that came up a while back about President Marcos of the Philippines. During the Martial Law period, Marcos refused to let the US tie human rights legislation in with the aid that it received from the US. One person commented "He might be a son of a bitch, but at least he's our son of a bitch."
Seems like Saddam and Bin Ladin were America's "sons of bitches" when it suited them. Remember the Iran/Iraq war and Afghanistan in the Russian invasion?
Have the balls to at least be consistent in foreign policy in a changing poltical world. Yesterdays allies, today's enemies? Why?
I wonder who could be next?
