Served in 67,68 & 71. Totally different story in 71, the unit I was assigned to had about 50% + drug users. Not MJ but 99% herion. Many stories, but as a combat photographer, I had to go to the morgue and film drug overdoses to see a young 19/21 yr old that died from drugs, it was worse than filming battlefield wounded and blown apart young Americans. Knew of one full bird colonel hooked on herion after taking so much morphine from the hospital he was afraid of getting caught. He had seen many yrs of combat casualities, it surprised me more doctors and nurses didn't become addicted to something, Think about 12-18hr days-7 Days a week of nothing but blown apart young kids, after being severly wounded myself in 71 and going thru the "medical system" I LOVE EVERY DOCTOR AND NURSE for their personal sacrifices.
