drugs and prostitution in Vietnam 1970-1971

Spent six months at Cam Rahn Bay from December 1970 to May 1971 before moving to Phan Rang. Prostitution was common on the airbase at Cam Rahn during my tour. The girls hid during the day and came out and made the rounds of the barracks each evening after dark except on nights when there were rocket attacks (how did they know??). Authorities had to know but looked the other way. How else do you explain the long lines forming at the VD clinic each day at 9:00 AM?

Drugs were even more prevalent. I'm sure drugs killed more airmen than the VC. Again, there was very little enforcement. I remember an incident involving the Cam Rahn Security Police being "busted" by Security Police brought in from Pleiku.
