Proud to Serve

From C. Liles, on Fri, 05 Mar 1999 04:54:10 GMT

I served in Vietnam in 1969-1970. I was a young and full of
pride, I did not know anything about Vietnam or death but in
a short 13 months I found that pride of being an American
was short lived. I saw death that is still with me 30 years
later. I feel proud that I was doing what my country had
asked me to do. But as I look back after all these years
and think of all the men who gave their lives. It was such a
waste. I lost friends and guys I served with and it still
hurts. I hear on the news that we have guys going to all
these other countries, and I think why? The people who sit
in they big offices and make those choices should have to
go themselves. I know I would fight for my freedom but
we have to know who we are fighting.

Thank you for listening to me! A PROUD AMERICAN!
