Too many baby boomers of age/not enough work/Vietnam

From Suellen, on Wed, 04 Dec 2002 23:30:08 GMT (in response to: Untitled)

A remark was made to me that the real reason for the U.S. involvement in Vietnam was because there were too many baby boomers coming of age, not enough work, so the population was "thinned out" by sending them to a slaughter house, better known as Vietnam. Is this the most ludicrous reason thusfar, or is truth stranger than fiction?
