War brings out the worst and the best in people and so do these message boards. Just look at all this crud that was posted.
In a war controlled by the media the only truth that gets through to the rest of us are the voices of the vets and the echoes of their fallens brothers. So lets listen to them and pay them due respect.
The saddest thing about the Viet war was how returning soldiers were treated. It amazes me what soldiers go through in the trenches, in the post, in the jungle in the name of their nation. But it doesn't stop there, listening to all vets from all ages you hear that even though they may have won and returned home without being physically wounded they usually have demons to face for the rest of their life. After they went home all they had was there fellow man/woman to support them, lucky people like us who didn't go through what they did. And how did we treat them.
With disrespect and animosity. I challenge everyone who speaks against vets to place themselves in their shoes. Well, I can't even imagine what their shoes felt like and either could you. Maybe if we all listened more and cared more and had at least a bit of apathy none of us would fight anymore (HA HA pipe dream) but as you can see from these boards there is very liitle. (I'd hate to see if everyone on this planet spoke the same language and posted here)
To all vets from all nations you have my utmost respect, sympathy and all the apathy I can summon.
THANK YOU! You bring us a little bit closer to understanding and thus peace (which I think will never happen :( )
Sincerely from a bloody lucky Australian to have it so darn good.
