The americans I know some are of a very similar mindset to myself, and some not. A war with Iraq is not the end of international terrorism, bombing Iraq will not remove the chemicals and biological agents sent or sold to Iraq by america’s permission either by turning a blind eye or otherwise.
It will only create more terrorism, the method of creating chemical or biological agents is already in the public domain and I firmly believe if Iraq is attacked by america without U.N. sanction then more suicide bombers will volunteer to kill themselves for Allah. Even if it means infecting themselves with biological agents and walking around New York, Washington or London.
So my point is It is very annoying to read that the stereotypical american is agreeing with the bush administration in wish a unilateral war with Iraq because they have weapons of mass destruction given to them by america.
The British Empire was lost mainly through our ignorance of other people’s beliefs in so far as we tried to convert the people of India to Christianity and they objected.
America is not trying to force it’s will on others (you can’t have weapons of mass destruction but we can syndrome) and these people have very strong beliefs and wills. You cannot change them and in trying to do so will only strengthen their resolve.
So as has been posted here before when people post ‘ anti-american ‘ thoughts even in polite terms the replies are ‘ we do because we can and you are wrong because we are right and we don’t care because you’re not american and don’t matter etc’
I have said on more than one occasion that I don’t hate all americans but I do hate the america is right syndrome and the bigger is better syndrome and the idea the everything american is good and if it isn’t american the it is no good.
So you can take from this what you like, the only people who dislike me american and the people who like my posts are from all over the world.
LOVE GILES
