Jeepers: You seem to forget Australia committed troops to Vietnam and fought and died alongside American soldiers. What has Australia contributed to the Human Race? they are very active in the space program and the USA relies on a lot of their technology.

There's many an Australian Nobel Prize winner as well as noted scientists and medical persons that have developed anti viral serums and other vaccinations. Case in point I bet you thought the hypodermic needle was invented by an American, if you did WRONG!

The Australians have developed the farming methods used by the USA today this includes large and arid cultivation,stock mustering and irrigation techniques.

Canberra has a wide range of space technologies and they activly assist the American security forces with listening stations and equipment as well as sites and manpower(Women power too.

I do recall in WW2 General Mcarthur in Papua New Guinea ordering one of his Generals to not return alive form trying to beat up the Japanese on the Kokoda trail. The General failed and didn't return, the Australians and New Zealanders had to go and sort this track out and remove the Japanese die hards from it as the Americans weren't able to do so.

Australia had it's inceptions from a dubious past, understandably so when Brittain decided to export people that were convicted of stealing a handkerchef or other small crimes. It was noted rival businesses framed their competitors for small crimes and had the magistrates sent the poor soul's to the colonies.Crimes such as vagrancie,loitering, sneezing in public,and a favourite of all is Tax evaision It may pay to note they didn't have to be guilty as a lot of the Convicts were not at that period. England in it's rush to colonise what ever it could and of course it failed in colonising America, thought it prudent to grab Australia throw all mannor of persons at it and make it part of it's Empire. These convicts whom you state were not wanted by anyone developed infastructure, business, commerce,and all mannor of civilisation's mod cons, made Australia what it is today. A thriving and sound nation with a good economy and institutions to boot. Imagine if those same convicts were sent to America, what would it be like now?
