It's incredible that people today -- 1999 -- still look down upon the men and women that had to go over to Vietnam. GET WITH IT PEOPLE!!! The verdict is in: the Vietnam experience -- no matter how one sums it up -- was [and still is] a black eye in American history. Not because of the troops, but because of the Political machine that hid behind the troops. My father spent over four years inh Vietnam, and he still doesn't talk about that bullshit that went down over there (he's not disfunctional -- in fact he's very successful). I believe he still keeps quiet because of the welcome he got when he returned. However, it still baffles me that something so brutal on our society can still be looked at as a fault of the individuals that fought, died and returned. This web page shows some excellent views of Vietnam from someone who went. It reflects the awkwardness felt by the many -- I know my father shows the strangness everyday he wakes. Get real people, until you experience something as horrifying as war don't be so quick to criticize. Welcome Home everybody...Good Job!!!
