Missy, If you went through this website, you must have discovered that K Hoffman was a Photo Detachment commander in VN. One of his responsibilities was to send out his enlisted photographers to take pictures, some in combat, some grip and grin shots, etc. I was a combat photographer in the same unit as he, however, we never met as I was attached to I CORPS up by Hue, another detachment. I had my own lieutenants under whom I worked. I found your comments that Mr. Hoffman seems to have a different, and you imply you are at odds with, attitude than you expected and questioned his motivations..... I do, though, appreciate his efforts in creating this site and the forum it offers... actually, I cannot say enough about it, it makes me proud. It has also given me a chance to contact and communicate with many VN vets and people like yourself. For this I am grateful, too. I hope you come back to this site to read this and contact me, for I applaud your perception. The disconnected, aloof, "we have a job to do" attitude about which you comment killed many boys. I am currently producing a video with voice over narration utilizing some 400 of my photos, descibing my experiences in VN and especially under fire. ( I had contacted Hoffman about 2 years ago about my project through this site and have yet received no response. As I said, I am grateful for this site and happy that so many people use it, and I thank Ken for putting it up, even though we have different approaches to our shared history. Hope to hear from you. Steve
