Children

Does not know what they are talking about.

It is perfectly obvious to me that this person has no knowledge and probably has no desire to know about these and other children in Vietnam.I proudly served in this country for two years as an advisor in the Mekong Delta(IVCorps)1967-1968 and again 1970-1971.I have numerous slides that I took in those 2 years, a lot of them of the children that I would see in almost daily visits to villages, hamlets and outposts in the conduct of my duties as a Senior RF/Pf advisor. The children were beautiful, friendly and very helpful. With out knowing it they(the children)would tell us by thier presence or absence whether or not the "bad guys" were around or not.The pictures shown here do not demonstrate poverty. From what I have seen they depict normal everyday scenes that can be seen in any village or hamlet in Vietnam. You cannot equate thier standard of living with that of ours. They and thier families have been living in these conditions for hundreds of years. All that I came in contact with were(except for the war)perfectly happy normal children. They had thier games and toys, ran around raising hell, playing in the mud and getting just as dirty as any you would find in this country. The only difference being they had no grass to play on,seldom did you see a fenced yard,no paved streets,no indoor plumbing,no TV,no parks to play in and almost no vehicular traffic on the dirt road through the hamlet or village. In other words"unless you have walked a mile in thier moccassins do not judge them"
