How can you not remember?

From Karen, on Mon, 12 Jan 1998 14:27:56 GMT (in response to: People don't want to remember!)

How can you forget something like the "Vietnam War"? I myself did not live through it but I feel it could have been avoided had compromise taken place. I mean a theory is no reason to start a "war." Thousands of innocent people died by cause of this horrendous display of immaturity. You can't take that back or forget it. America invaded Vietnam and killed it's citizens, raped it's people, and ruined it's villages. How can you just dismiss something as horrible as that? If another country invaded America I'm sure they would never forget the destruction and haterd they would feel. I am not going to say whether I am an American or Vietnamese because it doen't matter. Everybody is equal and has feelings that can not be changed or altered by different borders or cultures. No matter where you are from, the same amount of pepole died, the same destruction was done, the same "war" was fought. You can never change that. Or forget it. At least not in this day and age when the Vietnam vets are still taking their own lifes due to their experiences in the war. They, unlike us, actually saw the death, the hate, the revenge, the jungle. They felt the fear that makes you lose you mind under the blinding light of the stars while on an ambush. How can anything as devastating as the "Vietnam War" ever be forgotten or ignored?

                    PEACE,
                      KAREN
