An American Apology.....

From Joyce, on Sun, 27 Feb 2000 22:37:45 GMT (in response to: Also a survivor)

I was a teenager during the dreadful..VIETNAM WAR. It left a very big impact on my life. The newsreels, the magazines, the young men going to battle, the endless return of bodybags, the destruction of a gentle country, and the children left behind.

It was all so very sad and, in my opinion, a catastrophic devastation for Vietnam, America and all those who lost their lives.

Poltically speaking, our country was compelled to enter the war....but it was wrong! Please accept my apology as an American, for any and all hurt and pain you have endured during your lifetime. I assume that your father was American. So, I ask your (and all the Amerasian children) forgiveness, on his behalf, as well as our nation.
