Children

Innocence

From Cong Dung Le, on Wed, 10 Dec 2003 07:20:52 GMT

Looking into their eyes, I feel their sadness and helplessness penetrate my heart like thousands of pointed needles. A child's gaze should be full of hopes and dreams. Why do I feel like tears are running down their pinkish cheeks? Their smiles have simply disappeared. How lucky I am, I thought. I am living here in the country which we called the heavenly kingdom or the paradise which is filled with wonderful dreams. However, as we know enough about life, those dreams will only come true for those who have courage to pursue them. What about these children? Is their dream a simple day with a bow of rice to fill their empty aching stomach? Do they dream of a shelter where they can lie on their backs and close their eyes at night? Or is their desire just a piece of clothes that will cover their naked bodies and keep them warm in the winter? Most people that are lucky to be well off are kind and generous human beings. But all too often we delay helping others until after our own dreams are satisfied. How long can these underprivileged children wait? Two days? Two years? Or will they have to wait forever? For those who are concerned and have a good heart, please, why can't we help them now? Think about bringing them out of poverty and help them to have a better future.

If you are willing to help these children and others that are left wandering on the streets of Vietnam, please contact me or visit www.TuTam.org.
