Many negative, ungrateful comments on the photos. I'm disappointed. They are beautiful pictures, though not of beautiful circumstances. They show the lifeblood of Vietnam-- those for whom the war was fought. They show--in spontaneous and unposed photographic perfection--the real people of Vietnam, the natural beauty and preciousness of human life. I wish the children hadn't experienced what they did. I wish the same for the American soldiers, our allies in the war, the enemy, and every being affected by the war. But it did happen. God, save us. I have nothing but gratitude for the one who would see a part of Vietnam from behind the camera lens that many of us would otherwise never been able to see. One who would see that part of Vietnam and decide that, however painful or sad the photos would be, one of the best ways to honor these people would be to somehow share such glimpses of their lives with people like us. Again, thank you. May every person understand the depth of meaning and the true nobility of this photographer's work. And hopefully each one will take a moment to remember not only the children, but also the others, as I mentioned, that were so torn.
