Come on give me a break. While I agree that economic motivation were not a large factor in sending troops to Vietnam, political and miltary domination was. This is just as bad. Your country was willing to destroy a small asian country inorder to meet their political mandates. If this isn't imperialism I don't know what is.
Other examples of American Imperialism:
The Gulf War, The Columbian Drug War, The Korean War, Trade embargo on Cuba
More subtle examples:
Economic/Political pressure on China, Vietnam and other country to open up their markets and industry to American Industry, at the same time practicing protectism and hammering the international community with high taxes to protect domestic interest(ie. iron and steel taxation, and soft wood lumber from Canada).
