As a voluntary YMCA relief worker, I had the privilege to have served the same children in a refugee camp in Thu Duc for a couple of months before the fall of Saigon. They came from central Vietnam and survived the Highway of Terror. I looked over and over at the pictures of those children. They reminded me of the ones whom I cared for in the camp. I trimmed their hair, cut their nails, dug makeshift sewer lines from their tents, burned their wastes. They are the ones whom I entertained and rewarded with assorted relief supplies (by the ways, from cartons marked "Made in Australia, Not for Resale"). Please believe me. They were not V.C sympathizers, infiltrators, nor collaborators as some viewers may have suggested. Just look at them in their eyes. They were nothing but innocent war victimes. Let us not make them victimes of ignorance, hate and prejudice again. I hope they are doing well wherever they are now and that peace may be with them forever.
