Children

We can do something!

From Kristy Nash, on Sun, 28 Apr 2002 07:54:43 GMT (in response to: Children in Vietnam)

I was lucky enough to visit the beautiful Vietnam early this year. My short visit changed my life. Children really do live the way they do in the pictures, very poor but they still are children, and are always ready to have fun with you. Few children speak English but I did come across a few that did and they all attended the Christina Noble school a fantastic school that is teaching these beautiful children how to survive in Vietnam and importantly how to speak English which gives them the ability to talk to tourists. I am 16 and I am from Australia, I realise that there is a lot we can do to help these wonderful children. I suggest the book ‘ Bridge across my sorrows’ by Christina Noble, she did wonderful things, anything is possible! The pictures on this site brought me back to the streets of Saigon, their faces bring me to tears, but we have to remember poverty exists everywhere, probably a lot closer to home than we think. Do what you can with what you have, but don’t give up, children across the world, near and far, need the help of people who care.
