I viewed this wonderful sight and am touched by the beauty, naturalness, and simplicity of your photography. As the child of an American father and a Vietnamese mother I have had to wrestle with personal issues regarding my cultural identity and basically who I am. Though I was raised as an American, am American at heart and thought, my inner soul desires to connect with my Nam Viet bloodline. I do not know of any family that live in my mother's homeland. Thus, I have no real connection to the land, its people, or its spirit. Maybe in this life I will live and die as an American but I will not shy away from the chance of a future life as a Vietnamese man.
In preparation for my next life since I am Buddhist and truly believe in reincarnation and the karma aspects that are attached to it, I have promised myself that I will learn more about my mother's homeland, educate my children on the importance of understanding what VIETNAM was all about, and make peace within for the lives that were paid by both the US and Vietnam.
Your photographs and works like it are an integral part of my mission. It serves a true higher purpose. I'm sure it will affect and touch the lives of everyone who encounters it. Best wishes to future exposure and growth of your work, Mr. Hoffman.
