You had to be there--

From Roger Shane, on Sat, 29 Mar 1997 14:16:09 GMT (in response to: Too young)

I spent 1966-69 and 1989 through most of 1992 in Vietnam. These photos quite accurately depict the people then, and to a great extent, now. Ironically, they were better off economically during the war. Many have lost homes and fortunes, but they have never lost their love for the American...it amazes me to no end. Even building a medical project in Vinh, just north of the old DMZ in 1989. The people their had never seen an American other than the ones they shot down out of the sky. We dropped more tons of bombs on that one province than we dropped in the entire of WWII (I can't substantiate that, unfortunately). Anyway, this province of a million people expected our team of veterans, and during the 2 month project there was not one single negative incident.

Some things just have to be accepted...they are beyond understanding.
